LAS VEGAS and ATLANTA – March 20, 2018 –Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ: SGMS) (“Scientific Games” or the “Company”) today announced that the Company won a new, five-year contract from Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH (the “Lottery”) to provide lottery instant games and its world-leading Cooperative Services Program (CSP) for instant game management in the southwest German state of four million residents.
Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz and Scientific Games have grown the Lottery’s instant product sales nearly 382 percent since the Cooperative Services Program launched 10 years ago. The Company has supplied instant games to the Lottery for more than 30 years and also provides its lottery central gaming system, retailer terminals and sports betting.
“Scientific Games has collaborated with Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz on a full category management approach to marketing their instant games, and we are honored to have their trust in our partnership and continue our great work together for another five years,” said John Schulz, Senior Vice President, Instant Products for Scientific Games.
“Scientific Games has created a product that is attractive to customers and simple for operators,” said 7-Elevan Senior Category Manager Mark Hagen. “The lottery retail environment may never be the same.”
CSP services provided to Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz from Scientific Games’ Bielefeld, Germany facility include marketing, consulting, design and production of instant games, as well as inside sales (Telsell) warehousing and distribution for the Lottery’s network of about 930 retailers.
“We are pleased that we were able to prevail in the Europe-wide tender and Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz once again chose Scientific Games as their instant games partner due to our local resources and knowhow, logistics infrastructure in close proximity to the Lottery’s premises and retail network, as well as our more than four decades of experience with instant games,” said Matthias Müller, Managing Director, Germany for Scientific Games.
Scientific Games launched the world’s first secure instant game in 1974 and currently supplies approximately 70 percent of lottery instant games worldwide. The Company provides games, technology and services to more than 150 lotteries around the globe, including all 16 German lotteries.
